Home remedies for Endometriosis

Endometriosis is essentially a disorder faced by many women that affects their reproductive organs. The disorder results in the growth of tissues that resemble those in the uterine lining in various other places in the body. Called the endometrial tissue, they tend to grow and develop in the bowels, bladder and even in the fallopian tubes and the ovaries.

When a woman’s period starts, the tissues present inside the uterus grow thicker and as the period progresses, these tissues, along with the uterine lining are also shed. When the tissues growing elsewhere in the body start to shed during menstruation — the process starts resulting in pain and severe cramps as well. Other than that, the disorder can even cause heavy bleeding during menstruation. Despite the fact that there is no cure for this disorder, there are many home remedies that one can put to use and ease the discomfort and the pain caused by it.

Turmeric

Turmeric has been used since decades as a home remedy for a lot of things. Known to have anti-inflammatory properties, turmeric can go a long way in ensuring that your periods are more comfortable and less of a hassle. This inhibition on the production of estradiol would help in the prevention of the growth of these tissues in different regions. Heat

There are plenty of foods out there that could cause the worsening of symptoms as they lead to inflammation in your body. These foods include processed foods, sugar, dairy products and even gluten.

Exercise

When we say exercise, we do not mean that you start indulging in weight lifting or running on the treadmill at a breakneck speed. Light exercises are the best when you are someone who is suffering from endometriosis. Doing this regularly could help your body release endorphins or the “feel-good” hormones. These hormones can also help your body reduce pain quite effectively. Apart from that, exercising can also help reduce the estrogen levels in the body, thus providing relief from the symptoms. What one needs to remember about endometriosis is that there is no cure for this disorder yet. The good news however, is that by adopting some effective pain management tactics, one can very well feel much better during their periods, each month.
